What would you rather ride β an ebike or a piece of art? Estonian manufacturer Ampler would like to make both appealing to you. To do so, it draws parallels between its latest model β the fundamentally redesigned Ampler Curt β and a few more or less contemporary art objects that have made the transition into everyday life. Fortunately, the new Ampler Curt does not virtuously, but offers practical details.
1. Well presented is half the battle
2. The new Ampler Curt remains lightweight and becomes more versatile
3. Charger and charging cable already in the household
4. Drive on the Ampler Curt at the familiar level
1. Well presented is half the battle
No product presentation today without a video! In Ampler’s short clip, after all, you can learn a thing or two. At least those who have a certain interest in modern art but are still unfamiliar with the field. The author of this article belongs to this group of people. Well, depending on the day. π
In any case, he learned that Italian architect and industrial designer Ludovico Magistretti designed a number of stylish table lamps. Or that the cantilever chairs, which are often found as plastic furniture in museums, are directly linked to Danish architect Verner Panton.
The name Anna Castelli Ferrieri was also new to him. Especially the small round cabinet she designed, called Componibili. He had also never seen the stainless steel kettle manufactured by the Alessi design factory or the vase by Austrian architect and designer Ettore Sottsass. So, once again, a big shout out to Ampler for this condensed tour of European modernist minimalism of the past century.
Obviously, Ampler would like to add its new Curt to this series of examples of timeless design. And approaches such as a minimalist look or clean lines can easily be attributed to the ebike. However, as an art director, a role for which the author of this article would be completely unsuitable, he would have dispensed with the dutifully installed reflector on the seat post in the product film. It kind of ruins the image. Especially since the Ampler Curt features a stylish tail light with Lightskin LEDs embedded in the seat post.
2. The new Ampler Curt remains lightweight and becomes more versatile
Since the introduction of the first generation of the Curt for the 2018 season, this model has aimed to be the sportiest in the manufacturer’s range. This spirit is also inherent in the Curt 2025. It is evident in the more stretched seating position, the carbon fork that is only fitted to this ebike and a weight of around 14 kilograms. Compared to the Ampler Nova, this saves you around 2.5 kilograms. However, the Nova comes with a nine-speed derailleur, mudguards, a rear rack and a side stand. For the frame, both the Curt and the Nova opt for a double-butted 6061 aluminium alloy frame.

Ampler clearly wants to appeal to a larger target group with the Curt. That’s why, for the first time ever, there is a version of this model with a complete set of road-ready equipment, i.e. the aforementioned mudguards, rear rack and side stand. In this option, the Ampler Curt is called the Ampler Curt Equipped and costs 200 euros more. The version without these accessories is called Blank.
But that’s not all of the novelties. Regardless of whether you choose Blank or Equipped, you can also choose between the Curt’s typical single speed with belt drive and a Shimano Deore derailleur with eleven gears. The amazing thing is that upgrading from single speed to derailleur costs no extra.
3. Charger and charging cable already in the household
Another significant difference between the Ampler Curt for the 2026 season and its predecessor is the new USB-C charging socket. Ampler presented this in April 2025 together with the Nova and Nova Pro. Now the feature is also appearing on the Curt. These models are among the first ebikes worldwide on the market to use this technology. It allows you to charge the ebike’s battery, which is permanently integrated into the frame, using a conventional USB-C cable. You don’t even need a new charger. However, you will be faster with one that has a 140-watt fast-charging function. This charges the battery from zero to 100 per cent in 2.5 hours. And if you connect your laptop, smartphone, speaker or other mobile devices to the ebike, you can βmisuseβ it as a power bank.
In addition, Ampler says it has improved the electronic hardware of the ebike system. In particular, there is an ABC module, which Ampler developed entirely in-house. It combines Bluetooth functionality, a GPS sensor, mobile connectivity and smart diagnostics.
4. Drive on the Ampler Curt at the familiar level
The motor, battery and display, on the other hand, are the same as those used on the Ampler Nova and Ampler Nova Pro. The motor located in the rear wheel hub delivers 250 watts in continuous operation. Under heavy loads, the power can peak at 400 watts. With 45 Newton metres, the drive achieves a really good standard in terms of torque. The battery remains limited to the familiar capacity of 336 watt hours. In the best case, this is enough for 100 kilometres of motor assistance.
In summary, the new Ampler Curt leaves a good impression. The technical developments and new equipment options suit it well. And at a weight of around 14 kilograms, you have a lightweight urban ebike that does without a carbon frame and electronic gear shifting, which is why it is much easier on the wallet than similarly lightweight bikes from other manufacturers, such as the Scott Silence eRide.
