At the Bike Festival in Riva del Garda in May this year and at the Eurobike in Frankfurt am Main, Bosch presented its innovations for the 2026 season in two major blocks. However, none of these could be ridden yet that are linked to the eBike Flow App. The individual features will be implemented gradually with several updates to the app. The first of these, the switch to version 1.28 of the Bosch eBike Flow app, has just taken place. This overview tells you which new features have been rolled out.
We have already reported in detail on all of the features that have now been implemented. Therefore, only a brief summary is provided here.

1. Free updates with the Bosch eBike Flow app 1.28
1.1 More power for all current Bosch Smart System motors
Much of the focus at Bosch was on the performance of the individual motors. Competitors such as DJI’s Avinox, with its superior performance data, have clearly put pressure on the industry leader. The manufacturer is responding by increasing the power, torque and level of assistance in most of its units.
The Bosch Performance Line CX and the revised Bosch Performance Line CX Race certainly stand out in this regard. The latter is now called Bosch Performance Line CX-R. Both have increased performance to a torque of 100 Newton metres, a peak power output of 750 watts and assistance of 400 percent. The Bosch Performance Line Speed and Bosch Cargo Line receive the same values. The new Bosch Performance Line PX and Bosch Performance Line are ranked slightly below.
With the Bosch Performance Line SX, the smallest and lightest motor in the Bosch range, torque increases to 60 Newton metres with maximum assistance of 400 percent. However, as things stand at present, this update will not be rolled out until October 2025.
Once the update has been successfully completed, you can adjust the performance data for each riding mode separately in the eBike Flow app. This can be done by clicking on the corresponding tile and moving the slider.

Two important notes:
- Some ebike manufacturers have set the motors on delivery in such a way that you cannot apply the update at all or only partially. This cannot be changed, even by visiting a specialist workshop.
- The performance boost only applies to the latest motor versions. In Bosch’s internal designation, these usually start with BDU38. Exceptions are the Bosch Performance Line PX and the Bosch Performance Line SX. There is at least one compromise for the Bosch Performance Line CX with the designation BDU374Y. If this is installed in an e-mountain bike, you can at least increase the assistance to 400 percent in eMTB+ riding mode.

1.2 The new eMTB+ riding mode
As a mixture of eMTB mode and Race mode, the eMTB+ is designed to make the extremely sensitive response, which is geared towards racing, a little more controllable. Power that is basically only really usable by professionals is reined in a little, so that more people can use it on the trails.
2. Updates for the paid Flow+ subscription of the Bosch eBike Flow app 1.28
2.1 Sharing your ebike with up to five people
With the update to Bosch eBike Flow app version 1.28, you can share your ebike with up to five other people. To make this work, only the person who wants to share the ebike needs a Flow+ subscription. To do this, they simply send invitations to the relevant people from the app. However, the invitees need at least the Bosch eBike Flow app to be able to accept the invitation.
2.2 Battery Lock
As an extension to the familiar eBike Lock function, you will soon be able to protect your ebike’s battery separately. To do this, select the ebike battery in the ‘Lock & Alarm’ settings. If you then switch off the ebike or remove the display, the battery is deactivated and becomes worthless to thieves. Only you can remove the lock – using the digital keys you have stored in the function.
But be careful: If you want to share your ebike with other people, you should deactivate Battery Lock. Otherwise, they will also be denied access to the battery.
2.3 3D map display in the Ride Screen
When switching to the map view in the Smart System’s Ride Screen while riding an ebike, you will now be able to find your way around even better with the help of the map. After the update, the map will appear in 3D. This makes landmarks and special buildings in the city stand out more clearly than before. The function is also available without active navigation and when planning routes.
2.4 Annual overview
Over the course of a year, many of you will accumulate quite a few tours, kilometres and metres of elevation gain. You can now review this information more clearly thanks to a new statistics feature. This annual overview includes all the trips you have taken with the ebikes registered in your app profile. It lists the number of trips, the distance travelled, the travel time, the elevation gained and the CO2 emissions saved.
