Fazua Ride 60: Mode Control and Two New Batteries Expand the Ebike System

Fazua has provided more details about the availability of new components for its Ride 60 ebike system. Two new batteries and a new control unit will be available in stores from June. An update to the Fazua Toolbox is already giving you the option of customising the Fazua Ring Control operating unit to better suit your riding habits.

1. New Fazua Energy 480 batteries with more capacity

To talk about the new products, it makes sense to look back for once. As early as July 2024, Fazua announced a new battery and a control unit called Fazua Mode Control for the Eurobike show in Frankfurt am Main. However, at the time, the only mention was that the components would be available to bicycle manufacturers and private customers in 2025. The company’s announcement did not mention a specific date.

So now there is clarity. 2025 has become June 2025. And instead of one battery, there are suddenly two in the starting blocks. Originally, Fazua’s plans had only mentioned a single new Fazua Energy 480, to be permanently integrated into the frame. However, a second version has now been added in the form of a removable battery. This will be particularly welcomed by bicycle manufacturers, as it allows them to consider and implement two different solutions when developing new models.

Heavier – but compatible

Compared to the previous two Fazua Energy 430 batteries, the capacity has increased by 50 watt-hours to 480 watt-hours. This could increase the associated range by around ten percent. The manufacturer states that both the built-in and removable versions weigh 2.4 kilograms. Last year, the intube battery was stated to weigh 200 grams less.

We don’t yet know any details about the new Fazua Energy 480. Installed cells, dimensions, etc. All of this will presumably be communicated by Fazua in the near future. The question of compatibility, on the other hand, seems to have been definitively resolved. If you already have an ebike featuring the Fazua Ride 60, you can take it to a specialist shop to have the old battery replaced with a new one. Unfortunately, we don’t know whether you will incur additional costs and if so, how high they might be.

2. Fazua Mode Control as a new control unit for Ride 60

Fazua’s new control unit, the Mode Control, is designed specifically for use on e-mountain bikes. After the Ring Control and the Control Hub, this is the third operating unit for mounting on flatbars. On e-road bikes and e-gravel bikes with drop-bars, you are more likely to find the Fazua Road Control.

The big advantage of the Mode Control is that it is easier to operate the rocker switch with your thumb. It rests between two lugs that rise up from the ring and provide the necessary support when you move your thumb up and down along the ring. A short tap up or down changes to a higher or lower level of assistance. Holding the rocker switch in the up position turns on the ebike system. Moving it in the opposite direction deactivates the drive.

Functionality tailored to the ebike type

There is an additional separate button located on the lower part of the Mode Control. Pressing this for a longer period activates the push assistance. A short press either starts the boost function or switches the lighting system on or off. What happens depends on the selected use case in the Fazua Toolbox – mountain bike or urban.

The Fazua Toolbox will tell you whether your ebike is approved for retrofitting a Fazua Mode Control. However, you will need to update the software to the new version 2.23.1 first. Alternatively, your local dealer can tell you. If you like, you can sign up for the newsletter on the Fazua website and find out exactly when the sales of the control unit will start.

3. Software update opens up new options for Fazua Ring Control

After its introduction, the different use case with the Mode Control will be adjustable from the start. This adjustment is already coming for Fazua Ring Control. By updating to Fazua Toolbox 2.23.1, you can specify in the software whether the ‘Urban’ or ‘Mountain Bike’ profile should apply to your ebike. Depending on your decision, the functionality of the Ring Control changes. A quick right-click on the nose will turn the light on or off in the ‘Urban’ setting. In the ‘Mountain Bike’ setting, you can use it to activate the boost function from all riding modes.

You can find the setting in the Fazua Toolbox under the menu item ‘Configuration’. If for some reason this does not work, a bike shop should be able to help.

  1. I have a Cervelo Rouvida and was wondering if a higher capacity internal battery is available? Is an add-on external “range extending battery” offered for the bike I mentioned above?

    1. Hello,
Actually, Fazua does provide a bigger battery. The Fazua Energy 480 features a capacity of 480 watt hours. It’s available as a removable and a fixed version. Probybly, from mid of next week on we will list both batteries in our shop. Regarding the availability I can’t give any information yet. However, you’ll see a date, when the product website will be online.
