New Giant Stance E+ E-MTB Gets New Motor and More Suspension Travel in 2026

Giant Stance E+ ebike for the 2026 season

A full-suspension e-mountain bike that feels at home on a wide variety of terrain without being technically over-engineered and breaking the bank. That’s how you could briefly describe the Giant Stance E+. For the 2026 season, the manufacturer has given its bestseller a makeover. This provides it with more power than ever before and further expands its range of uses.

1. How does the new Giant Stance E+ differ from its predecessor?

The increase in the motor’s peak power from 600 watts to 800 watts and the greater suspension travel of 150 millimetres on the suspension fork and 140 millimetres on the shock are immediately noticeable. However, there have also been a number of changes beyond this:

  • new Giant SnycDrive Pro 3X motor
  • increased suspension travel to 150 millimetres at the front and 140 millimetres at the rear
  • use of suspension elements produced especially for Giant with the Giant STL36 suspension fork and Giant Crest RL shock on selected models
  • more aggressive frame geometry
  • switch to the latest generation of the ebike system featuring Smart Gateway 2.0
  • discontinuation of EX model with complete street-legal equipment

2. How does the changed frame geometry affect handling?

With an even steeper seat tube angle and a flatter head angle, Giant’s new Trance E+ follows the trends we see in comparable ebikes from other manufacturers, such as the KTM Macina Lycan. The change in the seat tube angle is relatively small, with an increase of half a degree to 76.5 degrees. Nevertheless, you should be able to ride the bike even better uphill because the efficiency of the pedalling motion is increased. Lowering the head tube angle by a full degree to 64.5 degrees, on the other hand, will be more noticeable. The flatter head angle gives you more stability and control on descents.

These changes to the aluminium frame create more space for the suspension system. Giant has made good use of this. The increase of ten millimetres of travel on the suspension fork and even 15 millimetres on the shock will please many of you. After all, nowadays, this kind of setup doesn’t just mean more fun and riding comfort when you’re heading downhill. Thanks to modern geometries, you can also ride up hills very sportily with this kind of ebike. Five to ten years ago, this would have involved hard work in the saddle and locking the suspension. Nowadays, you no longer need to make such compromises.

The Fox 36 Float Rhythm is one of the features by which you can immediately recognise the top model in the range, the Giant Stance E+ 0.

3. How much power does the built-in Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X generate?

At its peak, the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X delivers an astonishing 800 watts. Together with maximum assistance of 400 per cent and torque of 100 Newton metres, this results in a level at which the mid-drive motor even surpasses a unit such as the Bosch Performance Line CX. Even in terms of weight, at 2.6 kilograms it beats the industry leader by 100 grams.

During our test rides with the Giant Stance E+ 2026, the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X proved to be very lively. Compared to the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3, which is based on a 48-volt system, the assistance kicked in earlier. This is in line with information provided by Giant. The manufacturer has measured a response time of 0.24 seconds, after which the motor reaches its maximum torque. We also noticed that with the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X, you can pedal a little more leisurely and still get full power. A cadence of around 60 revolutions per minute was sufficient for this.

When it comes to the motor, Giant has no reason to hide behind the competition with its new SyncDrive Pro 3X.

You can adjust how the motor behaves on your ebike in Giant’s RideControl app. There you can specify, for example, how much assistance you want to use in which riding mode, what torque values you want to achieve and how quickly the motor should respond to pedalling.

  • Continuous rated power: 250 watts
  • Peak power: up to 800 watts
  • Assistance up to: 25 km/h
  • Torque: maximum 100 Nm
  • Max. assistance: 400 %
  • Weight: approx. 2.6 kg

4. What characterises the rear triangle with Giant’s Flexpoint suspension?

Flexpoint is a suspension system with a single main pivot point. The single-pivot system is supported by a pivot point near the dropout. This is not a conventional mechanical pivot point. Instead, it works with the flexing motion that occurs in the connection between the chainstay and seatstay. The seatstay, which is designed as a swing arm, is the primary component that flexes.

This solution offers two key advantages. Firstly, it eliminates the need for complex additional joints or excessive frame reinforcements. This means that there is less that can break and you don’t need to make any tedious adjustments. Secondly, it ensures that the shock works independently, allowing it to compensate for even minimal vibrations sensitively and evenly across the entire wheel path.

The relatively simple construction of the Flexpoint rear triangle saves a few grams in weight thanks to its design.

5. What advantages does the Smart Gateway 2.0 bring to the new Stance E+?

Introduced for the 2026 season, Giant’s Smart Gateway 2.0 comprises a new communication hub for all components belonging to the ebike system, new cables and connectors, new displays and control units, and other elements. On the Giant Stance E+, this is most evident in the form of the new RideControl Dash 2 control unit. Thanks to its combination of buttons and screen, it is both a control unit and a display in one. Mounted on the left side of the handlebars, it is easily accessible at all times. The five buttons allow you to control all the essential functions of the e-drive. The 1.5-inch screen can be configured in the settings to display multiple data items on a single screen if desired.

Even in the display mode showing two values, the information on the Giant RideControl Dash 2 is still easy to read.

With the RideControl Dash 2, you can activate Giant’s digital anti-theft protection β€˜E-Lock’. In this case, the ebike is automatically locked when you switch it off. The lock deactivates the e-drive but does not mechanically block the ebike. If someone unauthorised moves the locked ebike, an acoustic alarm sounds. At the same time, you receive a message via the app. If you use an Apple mobile device, you can use Apple’s β€˜Find My’ feature to locate the stolen ebike.

While E-Lock, including the β€˜Find My’ function, comes as standard on every Giant ebike with Smart Gateway 2.0, other components can be added later. These include the new Aegis Tire Checker. With this sensor, you can measure the current tyre pressure separately for the front and rear wheels and display it on the screen. The Aegis Tire Checker even warns you when you switch on the ebike if the tyre pressure falls below a limit you have set. Tyre pressure can have a significant impact on handling, especially on an e-mountain bike. Therefore, this upgrade could be of interest to some of you.

6. How do the Giant Stance E+ 2026 models differ?

Giant is launching three different models of the Stance E+ 2026. The Giant Stance E+ 0, Giant Stance E+ 1 and Giant Stance E+ 2 differ mainly in terms of the motor, battery, suspension, gears and brakes.

All models are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes with four brake pistons.

The top-of-the-range Giant Stance E+ 0 model is the only one to offer a complete Fox suspension system in addition to the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X motor and Giant EnergyPak Smart 800 battery with a capacity of 800 watt hours. It also features the Shimano XT groupset, the highest quality of the three mechanical derailleurs fitted. Compared to its predecessor, the price for the top model has risen from 4,499 euros to 5,499 euros. Given the new motor, improved suspension and higher-quality gears and brakes, we consider the price increase to be reasonable.

Further differentiation via suspension and e-drive

For the same price as before, i.e. 4,499 euros, you can now get the Giant Stance E+ 1. In return, you get the latest generation of Giant’s ebike systems with all the options offered by Smart Gateway 2.0. You will have to make compromises in terms of suspension fork, shock, brakes and gears. The most painful of these is perhaps the simpler gear system, which has only ten gears instead of eleven and covers a slightly smaller range.

For another 500 euros less, you can get the Giant Stance E+ 2. The 3,999 euros mean a change of motor. Giant uses the Giant SyncDrive Sport 3 here. Its torque and peak power are lower than those of the Giant SyncDrive Pro 3X. The battery is also smaller, with a capacity of 625 watt hours. However, the rest of the equipment is largely the same as for the Giant Stance E+ 1.

Incidentally, all three models are compatible with a Giant range extender. Both the Giant EnergyPak Plus 250 and the Giant EnergyPak Plus 200 are suitable options.

7. What is this e-mountain bike suitable for?

With 150 millimetres of front suspension travel and 140 millimetres of rear suspension travel, the Giant Stance E+ is classified as a trail bike. This category describes e-mountain bikes with extremely balanced riding characteristics. As all-rounders, they are suitable for almost any terrain and any occasion. Their qualities extend equally to uphill and downhill riding. This profile appeals both to people who are just discovering mountain biking and to advanced riders who are not looking for the lighter weight of a cross-country bike or the greater suspension capacity of an enduro e-MTB.

8. What distinguishes the Giant Stance E+ from the Liv Embolden E+?

The Liv Embolden E+ is the counterpart to the Giant Stance E+ – with one important difference: It is aimed specifically at women. This specialisation is clearly evident when you look at the frame. It starts at XS and only uses 27.5-inch wheels in this size. Only from size S upwards are 29-inch wheels fitted. The top tube bends slightly downwards before meeting the seat tube, creating a slightly curved line. Giant presumably hopes that this will appeal more to women. In addition, there is a change in the choice of frame colours. The lighter Slate Grey on the Liv Embolden E+ 2 in particular adds an individual touch.

However, the Liv Embolden E+ and Giant Stance E+ are basically the same. This applies to the characteristics, intended use and associated equipment of the ebikes. The latter deserves special mention. After all, the equipment of the top model of the Liv Embolden E+ used to be only on a par with the second-best Stance E+. For the 2026 season, the top models are now technically identical. Especially in terms of the ebike motor, ebikes for women are now on a par with those for men here.
