Usually, it’s considered a staple of Eurobike – KTM’s huge orange exhibition stand showcasing next year’s novelties. But 2026 was no ordinary year for the world’s largest bicycle trade fair in Frankfurt am Main. Numerous well-known manufacturers from German-speaking countries, together with the German Bicycle Industry Association (ZIV), had cancelled their participation. KTM was among them. Nevertheless, the iconic Austrian brand naturally has new ebikes in store for the 2027 season. Instead, the manufacturer showcased its novelties at the exhibition organised by the German Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft (ZEG) in Cologne, as well as at its in-house exhibition at its headquarters in Mattighofen. 1. KTM cuts prices and streamlines its range for the new season
Before we move on to the actual KTM models for the 2027 season, here are a few general observations. After all, a look at the manufacturer’s wide range always offers several insights. On the one hand, it shows what currently promises success on the market. And at the same time, it partly reflects what has been happening in the industry over the past few months.
The first notable observation here is that KTM is lowering its prices. And this is happening on a large scale across much of its range. Four models serve as examples to illustrate what is meant:
- Example 1: The 2027 KTM Macina Prowler Prestige CX-R enduro e-mountain bike costs 6,799 euros instead of the previous price of 8,399 euros. The only significant change from one model to the next is the switch in the electronic gearing system from Shimano XT Di2 Linkglide to Sram GX Eagle Transmission.
- Example 2: The price of the urban KTM Macina Superbelt SX, featuring a mechanical Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub gear system, has dropped from 3,699 euros to 3,499 euros.
- Example 3: The price of the full-suspension KTM Macina Aera FS Prime LFC Di2 with a low-step frame has dropped from 6,799 euros to 5,999 euros. The only feature omitted is the Bosch ConnectModule GPS tracker. The rest of the specification remains virtually identical.
- Example 4: The KTM Macina Gravelator SX Elite, the top-of-the-range e-gravel bike, will now cost 3,999 euros instead of the previous 4,799 euros. This is primarily due to a different wheelset. However, there have been no changes to components such as the drivetrain, brakes, fork, etc.
Price differences of several hundred euros are by no means an exception. Furthermore, the measure applies to both smaller and very prominent, high-selling model ranges. KTM clearly considers price increasingly as a tool to attract people to its range and to encourage existing customers to make further purchases.
A clearer range than in previous years
It appears, however, that the manufacturer has not only taken a critical look at its own retail prices, but has also carried out a fundamental review of its product range. It seems that a few model ranges and ebike types have been deemed dispensable. For example, the KTM Macina Every e-trekking bike, which was launched just a year ago, has already disappeared from the range. With the three versions of the KTM Macina Multi gone, the entire e-cargo bike segment has been dropped. The KTM Macina Fold folding bike is also missing without replacement. The same applies to the KTM Macina Revelator SX Prime Di2 e-road bike.
The range has shrunk noticeably in other series as well. Of the lightweight KTM Macina Scarp SX trail mountain bike, there is now just a single model instead of five. The KTM Macina Race SX, a hardtail also featuring the Bosch Performance Line SX, has suffered a similar fate and is now available in just one version instead of three.
However, this trend can also be observed in the opposite direction. For example, the full-suspension low-step KTM Macina Style FS will now be available in three models instead of just one. Presumably, this is due to correspondingly high consumer demand, to which KTM is responding.
Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0 thoughtfully implemented
Another key factor for KTM was Bosch’s Performance Upgrade 2.0, rolled out in spring 2026. This has increased power, torque and assistance – or even just one or two of these characteristics – in several of the global market leader’s motors. KTM generally passes these benefits on to you directly through the corresponding motor programming. However, there are a few exceptions. Some models feature components that are not approved for these increased performance figures. This applies, for example, to certain Enviolo hub gears. In these cases, you won’t be able to set the maximum settings for a Bosch Performance Line CX, for instance, in the Bosch eBike Flow app. If this is important to you, it’s best to check with your respective dealer or directly with KTM to find out what the situation is for the model you’re interested in.
2. New KTM Macina Joy city ebike
This brings us round to KTM’s first ‘genuine’ new release for the 2027 season. And let’s put it this way: We would have been surprised if this new model hadn’t been released. When supplier Bosch – which, for its part, has a very close and collaborative relationship with KTM – unveils a new motor, you can be almost one hundred per cent certain that KTM will launch new ebikes featuring exactly that motor in the same year. All the more so when, with the Hub Line, a rear-wheel hub motor from Bosch is hitting the market for the very first time.
KTM is fitting the new motor into a model that epitomises exactly what Bosch developed the Hub Line for. The KTM Macina Joy is a city ebike that can confidently do without a mid-drive motor without losing any of its appeal. Quite the opposite, in fact. It gives the bike manufacturer the opportunity to design a slim frame that doesn’t need to accommodate either a mid-drive motor or a large battery. Instead, the motor simply becomes part of the rear wheel, and the battery – thanks to its lower capacity and the resulting compact size – fits neatly into a down tube with a small diameter.
One model – but three frame shapes
As a result, the KTM Macina Joy ultimately looks just as Bosch and KTM probably both envisaged – like an ebike that you’d hardly recognise as one. To begin with, the manufacturer is launching with just one specification in two colour variants. The variety comes from the three available frame options: a diamond frame, a mid-step frame and a low-step frame. For the battery, KTM has opted for the Bosch CompactTube 400. This promises slightly greater ranges than the Bosch PowerTube 360, which was also a possibility. Anyone who considers the new KTM Macina Joy to be more than just an urban ebike can use the Bosch PowerMore 250 range extender and its additional capacity to lay the foundations for riding longer distances. The fitted Shimano derailleur, with its nine gears, certainly offers the necessary range of gear ratios for this.
High load capacity meets a low price
Naturally, everything has been thought of for carrying plenty of luggage. You can load the rear rack with a maximum weight of 30 kilograms. It is also approved for fitting a child seat. Should you ever need to carry the Joy up a flight of stairs or onto a train in everyday life, the ebike’s total weight of around 23 kilograms is a real bonus. If you subtract this from the model’s maximum permitted total weight of 142 kilograms, that leaves nearly 120 kilograms for you and any luggage you might be carrying.
A final – and by no means unimportant – aspect of the Bosch Hub Line: its purchase price for ebike manufacturers appears to be so low that they can set prices for models fitted with it that were previously seemingly unattainable with a Bosch mid-drive motor. The new KTM Macina Joy, for example, costs 2,299 euros. The manufacturer’s most affordable alternatives suitable for touring and city use start at around 400 or 500 euros more.

The price point mentioned in relation to the KTM Macina Joy comes up again with KTM’s e-gravel bikes. There’s a 900 euro difference between the new KTM Macina Gravelator HX and the next cheapest model, the KTM Macina Gravelator SX 10. In favour of the KTM Macina Gravelator HX, of course. You’ll need to budget 2,499 euros for this model.
Unlike with the Joy, the manufacturer understandably didn’t have to start from scratch with the development here. The frame is almost entirely identical to the one already used in the well-known mid-drive models. This is partly due to KTM’s decision to stick with the Bosch CompactTube 400 battery. As a result, the down tube, for example, requires no modifications whatsoever. KTM has carried over to this new model both the control concept – featuring the Bosch Mini Remote on the handlebars and the Bosch System Controller integrated into the top tube – and the optional extension of the ebike system with the Bosch range extender.
Entry-level model with a special bonus
Differences become apparent when looking at the brakes and gears. Here, components from the more affordable Shimano Cues range are used. In our view, this means the KTM Macina Gravelator HX is aimed more at those who wish to enter this segment on a reasonable budget. In that context, it probably matters less that, at 17.5 kilograms, this entry-level model weighs around 2.5 kilograms more than the top-of-the-range model.
Especially as the newcomer has another bonus point in its favour. Its fork – made from carbon, as with the two more expensive models – is the only one to feature mounts for accessories. Bags, bottle cages, small rear racks and similar accessories can be attached to these.

4. KTM Macina Gran Violo carrying on the legacy of KTM Macina Every in 2027
At the start of this article, we mentioned the discontinuation of the KTM Macina Every e-trekking bike as a result of the range overhaul. Now we can announce its return. 😉 Well, at least one of its versions. In a slightly modified form. But the parallels between the new KTM Macina Gran Violo and the KTM Macina Every 820 Belt from the 2026 season are hard to deny. Both are based on the Power Tube Sport frame, or PTS for short. Both feature a suspension fork with 80 millimetres of travel. Both are powered by a Bosch Performance Line CX motor. And in both, the manufacturer has fitted the Enviolo Trekking automatiq, an automatic, stepless hub gear system.
Visually, the new KTM Macina Gran Violo stands out from the rest of the Gran series thanks to its PTS frame. A characteristic feature of this frame is its low step-through, combined with a raised and reinforced chainstay. This gives the ebike additional stability. Combined with the Schwalbe Hybrid Al Grounder tyres, which roll easily on tarmac, as well as the suspension fork and the telescopic seat post, this creates the profile of an interesting touring and trekking ebike. Automatic gear-changing and a powerful mid-drive motor fit perfectly into the picture. Even though this is one of the models where KTM considers it appropriate to limit the motor’s torque to 90 Newton metres to ensure the long-term durability of the hub gear system. The bottom line is a total price of 4,999 euros. Not least because of the Bosch ConnectModule GPS tracker fitted as standard, this seems to us to be a fair price.

5. KTM e-mountain bikes for the 2027 season featuring Bosch Performance Line CX-R motor
In the long-travel full-suspension e-mountain bike segment, KTM is pursuing a strategy for the 2027 season that was already clearly emerging the previous year. This involves equipping as many models as possible with Bosch’s flagship motor, the Performance Line CX-R. With one exception, both the KTM Macina Prowler and the KTM Macina Kahpoho are fitted exclusively with this motor.
It is quite conceivable that this is an attempt to create a certain counterbalance to the situation that has arisen in this category of ebikes due to numerous competitors switching to Avinox motors. From certain perspectives, Bosch has simply lost its position as the leading innovator in this area. This is particularly true as the motors from Chinese competitors are not only a fair way ahead in terms of performance, but are also becoming so attractively priced due to domestic subsidies that they are exerting enormous economic pressure.
The choice of the Bosch Performance Line CX-R therefore seems entirely understandable. After all, it offers a few undeniable advantages over the Bosch Performance Line CX. Its titanium drive shaft, combined with the magnesium housing, reduces the motor’s weight by 100 grams whilst simultaneously increasing its durability. The same applies to the ceramic bearings. On the trails, it is the exclusive Race mode of the Performance Line CX-R that really makes itself felt. Particularly when accelerating and reaching maximum speeds, it delivers a performance that no other Bosch motor can match.
KTM Macina Prowler 2027
The KTM Macina Prowler continues to offer the longest travel on both the suspension fork and shock in 2027, combined with the CX-R motor developed for professional sport. On this e-enduro, the travel extends to 180 millimetres at the front and 170 millimetres at the rear. Given this, it is the most suitable model for the longest jumps, the roughest terrain and the most demanding riding techniques.

KTM Macina Kapoho 2027
The KTM Macina Kapoho offers only marginally less capability. Thanks to the familiar 160-millimetre travel on the suspension fork and rear triangle, you’re just as well equipped for trails to the ice-cream parlour as you are for those in the high mountains. Due to its aluminium frame, the motor without Race mode and the mechanical gearing system, the entry-level KTM Macina Kapoho 8973 sits a little apart from the rest of the range. At 4,1999 euros, however, this is also reflected in the price. If you add a further 400 euros, the KTM Macina Kapoho Elite CX-R Race is the first model to feature the top-of-the-range motor and a carbon frame.

6. Extra-robust XL ebikes for taller and heavier riders
There are plenty of reasons why ebikes should be able to cope not only with your own body weight but also with additional weight from luggage on the ebike, towing an unbraked trailer or carrying children. Models that are actually approved for this, however, are relatively few and far between. The situation isn’t much better at KTM. Just four models in the entire range provide a correspondingly wider weight tolerance. You can traditionally recognise them by the ‘XL’ suffix in the product name.

The KTM Macina Chacana 891 XL LFC illustrates just how significant these differences can be. With a total weight of 31.8 kilograms, its maximum permitted total weight is 170 kilograms. This means that a person weighing just under 140 kilograms could ride this ebike. Important: The decisive factor is the weight including equipment on the bike, not just body weight. Within the model range, the KTM Macina Chacana CX 720 LFC comes closest to this. Its total weight of 29.6 kilograms is matched by a maximum permitted total weight of 148 kilograms. Consequently, the margin drops to 118.4 kilograms.
For a full-suspension e-mountain bike like the KTM Macina Chacana 891 XL LFC, these are impressive figures. Especially as it comes fully equipped with mudguards, permanently fitted lights, a rear rack and a side stand.

The second model in KTM’s XL range that is clearly designed for sport is the KTM Macina Team 892 XL. As a hardtail, this model naturally does not feature a rear triangle with suspension. In return, the maximum permitted total weight increases to 177 kilograms. As the ebike, weighing 26.6 kilograms, is also lighter than the KTM Macina Chacana 891 XL LFC, the scope for additional weight rises to almost exactly 150 kilograms. In addition to the version with a diamond frame, KTM also offers the model as a low-step version. Designed as ‘traditional’ e-mountain bikes, neither model comes with the accessories required for road use. However, all the mounting points for these are provided on the frame.

If you’re looking for an ebike with maximum load capacity, you can’t go past the KTM Macina City 820 XL Belt. Its maximum permitted total weight is a full 180 kilograms. The 30.1 kilograms that this urban low-step bike weighs already includes, in addition to the standard road-ready equipment, the suspension fork, the suspension seatpost and the angle-adjustable stem. This again leaves a total of 150 kilograms that can be allocated to the rider’s body weight, as well as luggage and a trailer.

In terms of riding comfort, the KTM Macina Style 820 XL Di2 actually outperforms the KTM Macina City 820 XL Belt. This is down to its additional electronic derailleur. It shares features such as the suspension on the saddle and front wheel, as well as the adjustable stem, with the other city ebike mentioned. Unlike that model, however, it offers not only a low-step version but also versions with a diamond frame and a mid-step frame. In terms of weight and maximum permitted total weight, there are only minor differences at 29.1 kilograms and 179 kilograms respectively.

7. Lightweight KTM ebikes featuring Bosch Performance Line SX for 2027
In the 2027 season, there will be fewer KTM ebikes featuring Bosch’s lightest mid-drive motor, the Performance Line SX. Nevertheless, this drive system has long since established itself as a staple of the range. It makes the ebike system – and thus the ebike as a whole – lighter. To achieve this, it deliberately forgoes the highest power and torque figures. Instead, it encourages you to adopt a slightly sportier riding style with cadences of 75 revolutions per minute and above. Its combination with a smaller battery means it needs recharging more frequently than is the case, for example, with a Bosch PowerTube 800. Thanks to the efficient interaction between the motor and battery, however, ranges of 100 kilometres and more are still achievable.

Electronic gear-shifting on an e-gravel bike is overrated. That’s one way of interpreting the changes to KTM’s range of e-gravel bikes. We wouldn’t generalise it in those terms. But for the manufacturer, this seems to be the feedback they’ve received from cycle shops and online retailers. That’s why we no longer see a Prime-model featuring a Shimano Deore XT Di2. The focus is therefore clearly on mechanical derailleurs. And with the GRX and Cues groupsets, there’s now plenty of choice available.
One model has also been dropped from the lower end of the range. However, this is likely directly linked to the launch of the KTM Macina Gravelator HX. As the ideal new entry-level model, this newcomer – featuring a Bosch rear-wheel hub motor – replaces the previous KTM Macina Gravelator SX 20.

An ebike for trekking with a suspension fork limited to 50 millimetres of travel? That might not quite fit with the range of uses for such a model. Off-road, things can quickly get a bit bumpier on longer rides. So a bit more comfort is certainly welcome. KTM has taken this suggestion on board and upgraded its top-of-the-range model, the new KTM Macina Sport SX Master Di2, with a more capable suspension fork. Thanks to its matt black finish with glossy black lettering, this bike could well attract plenty of fans based on its looks alone.
Overall, the five models cover a good range of electronic and mechanical gearing systems, with prices ranging accordingly from 4,699 euros to 3,299 euros. In terms of colour, there are plenty of options to choose from, ranging from blue and a deep wine red through to grey, a stylish shade of green called Goblin Green, and a matt bronze tone.

First unveiled last year and initially available in just one version, it’s now being joined by a further model. This one once again features the familiar Shimano Alfine hub gear with its eight gears. However, the more expensive model, the KTM Macina Superbelt SX 10 Di2, features the version with electronic gear shifting. When combined with Bosch eShift, this allows you not only to set your preferred cadence but also to specify the gear in which the ebike will restart after coming to a halt. Especially when riding in town on an ebike like the KTM Macina Superbelt SX, this is a feature that quickly proves to be a major advantage.
Despite the upgrade, KTM has kept prices very stable here. For the electronic gear-shifting, you pay just 100 euros more than the mechanical gear-shifting cost last year. The price of the new KTM Macina Superbelt SX 20, meanwhile, has fallen by 200 euros. Incidentally, it looks really good in both Metallic White and Moon Rock Matt, a lovely silver-grey.

7.4 KTM Macina Mini Me SX
Over the years, the Bosch Performance Line SX has proven itself to be a suitable motor for KTM’s children’s ebikes. This is particularly true as the manufacturer has slightly scaled back its performance in the version for younger children, the KTM Macina Mini Me SX 24, with the assistance cutting out once the speed reaches 20 kilometres per hour.
It appears there is nothing fundamental to improve in the rest of the spec either. The suspension fork, with 80 millimetres of travel, and the derailleur gear system, with nine speeds, appear to meet children’s needs. The only changes compared to last season are therefore the switch from the Bosch Intuvia 100 to the new Bosch Intuvia 200 display, and the fitting of a slightly higher-quality brake.

8. Flexible rear rack further enhancing KTM’s ebike novelties for 2027
As well as KTM’s ebike novelties for 2027, we’ve also come across an accessory this year that has impressed us. And, to our shame, we have to admit: It was actually unveiled a year ago. We’re talking about a rear rack that KTM apparently manufactures – or gets manufactured – exclusively for itself, meaning you’ll probably only find it from this manufacturer.
What makes this rear rack special is its compatibility. KTM combines two systems from different manufacturers in the world of rear racks – Racktime Snap-it 2.0 from Hebie and Monkeyload from the German Zweirad-Einkaufs-Genossenschaft ZEG. Normally, you can only attach accessories from one system or the other to a rear rack. A rear rack that works with both systems simply doesn’t exist anywhere else.
Turn one into five
Incidentally, it’s more accurate to talk about several rear racks. After all, KTM has developed a whole range of models. Depending on the model, they can carry different maximum weights. This also determines whether or not they’re approved for fitting a child seat. Four of the current five models feature separate rails to which you can attach side panniers. What they all have in common, however, is the clamping bracket, which allows you to carry items such as a jacket or a bouquet of flowers on the rear rack without them falling off or needing to be secured with straps or elastic bands. KTM currently fits the following five rear racks to its ebikes:
