Flyer E-Bikes

"Runs like clockwork." This phrase fits the manufacturer Flyer quite well. And not just because it also comes from Switzerland. The company has always prioritised values such as precision and reliability. It knows full well that these qualities are needed to justify its higher prices compared to some of its competitors.

The name Flyer first appeared in the bicycle industry in 1993 with one of the precursors to today's e-bikes, called the "Roter Büffel" (Red Buffalo). The manufacturer made its final breakthrough in 2003 with the C series, Europe's first e-bike with a lithium-ion battery. A characteristic feature of this city and trekking e-bike, and many of those that followed, was the location of the battery behind the seat tube near the bottom bracket.

Today, the e-bikes manufactured at the company's headquarters in Huttwil feature their own drive system called Flyer Intelligent Technology (FIT). This is based on the optimised networking of the motor, battery, display and control unit. Thanks to FIT, Flyer was one of the first providers to offer individually adjustable assistance levels. Other features of the system include its extremely powerful motors with torques of more than 90 Newton metres and its batteries with capacities of over 700 watt hours.

Flyer sources the corresponding motors from Japanese supplier Panasonic. You will also find various Flyer e-bikes with Bosch drives.

What types of e-bikes are included in the Flyer range?

Flyer e-bikes in the "Mountain" category

Power is the name of the game for all Flyer e-mountain bikes. Whether e-MTB fully or e-hardtail, only e-bike drives with the most powerful motors are used. Among the full-suspension models, each series embodies a specific type of e-mountain bike – from enduro to all-mountain to marathon. Model series:

  • Uproc X
  • Uproc 6
  • Uproc 3
  • Uproc 2

Available frame shapes: Diamond, trapezoid (Uproc 2 only)
Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: No

E-bikes from Flyer in the "Crossover" category

True to their name, crossover e-bikes really do go a bit all over the place. Thanks to their front fork and rear suspension, the Goroc X and Goroc 3 can best be described as SUV e-bikes. Alongside them is the Goroc 2, a powerful trekking e-bike. What they all have in common is that they come fully equipped with mudguards, luggage racks, side stands and complete lighting systems.

Model series:

  • Goroc X
  • Goroc 3
  • Goroc 2

Available frame shapes: Diamond, trapezoid
Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: Yes

Flyer e-bikes in the "Tour" category

Anyone looking for an e-bike for cycling trips will come across Flyer's first classic low step-through bike. Thanks to its derailleur gear system, the Gotour 6 is a little sportier and, with its suspension fork, comes quite close to a typical trekking bike. The Gotour 4 and Gotour 3, on the other hand, are more geared towards urban riding with their partially automatic hub gears. Flyer itself calls the Gotour 3 a family bike. You can attach a child seat to its rear luggage rack, which is integrated into the frame. Standard equipment includes a large front luggage rack, and you can also attach a child trailer. So it certainly lives up to its name. Flyer also offers one of the rare electric-assist tandems in this category.

Model series:

  • Gotour 6
  • Gotour 4
  • Gotour 3
  • Tandem

Available frame shapes: Diamond, step-through, tandem

Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: yes

Flyer e-bikes in the "Urban" category

There are also many different types of urban e-bikes – from niche products to bestsellers. The sportiest of these is the S-Pedelec Upstreet 6. Its sleek design perfectly matches its assistance speed of up to 45 km/h. The models in the Usptreet 5 and Usptreet 3 series are much more relaxed in character. With these classic city e-bikes, you can choose between chain or hub gears. The Upstreet 2 folding bike and the Upstreet 1 compact bike are tailored to specific requirements. Both offer particular advantages for use in the city. They are just as suitable for holiday planning, especially for people who are thinking of travelling in a motorhome or similar.

Model series:

  • Upstreet 6
  • Upstreet 5
  • Upstreet 3
  • Upstreet 2
  • Upstreet 1

Available frame shapes:

  • Diamond
  • Trapezoid
  • Low step-through

Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: yes
