Technologies

SERVOWAVE Action
The SERVOWAVE brake lever takes up a lot of braking distance at the start of its movement so that the pads can be guided to the brake disc with minimal lever travel. Once the brake pad is applied, the force transmission factor increases rapidly. The larger part of the lever travel is therefore still available to increase the braking force and provide more targeted modulation.

I-SPEC EV
This mounting system offers the best possible accessibility and ergonomics of the shift lever as well as a tidy cockpit. It is mounted directly on the I-SPEC EV-compatible brake lever. The lateral adjustment range is 14 mm. The angle of the shifter can be adjusted by 60°. A second contact point between the brake lever and handlebar provides additional stiffness in the brake lever and thus increases the braking effect.

ONE WAY BLEEDING was developed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. We have optimised the path of the brake fluid throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from becoming trapped in the system. The one-way flow of the mineral oil, together with the funnel for filling, enables clean, problem-free bleeding.

ICE TECHNOLOGIES
Fading, which can occur in the brake disc and pad when braking continuously on long descents, impairs braking performance. SHIMANO has introduced ICE TECHNOLOGIES brake discs and ICE TECHNOLOGIES brake pads to create a cooling technology for consistently high braking performance. The brake disc with its 3-layer sandwich structure made of stainless steel, aluminium and stainless steel offers better heat dissipation. The brake pads also feature cooling fins. The design of the disc in combination with the cooling fins results in a longer service life of the pad, less braking noise, less fading and a lower weight.

FOUR PISTON
The disc brake system with double-diameter caliper design and counter-rotating pistons has pistons of different sizes at the front and rear. The system includes a power transmission system in which the brake disc is pressed by the smaller piston at the entrance to the brake disc mount and also by the stronger, larger piston at the rear. This prevents the brake disc from vibrating and significantly reduces noise.
The four-piston brake caliper increases the contact area with the brake disc, while its size remains compact. The position of the pads is precisely matched to stabilise the pressure. In addition, in combination with the SERVOWAVE brake lever, an incredible 50 % more braking force is achieved than with the previous model. The advanced disc brake system can be adapted to the rider's braking habits and generates a smooth, highly controllable braking force.
