KTM E-Bikes
For many years, KTM has been one of the best-known and most successful e-bike manufacturers worldwide. The Austrian company unveiled its first e-bike back in 1994. The first bicycle with electric assistance went into series production in 2009.
What sets KTM apart from its competitors?
There are essentially four pillars on which KTM has built its excellent reputation over time.
From the very beginning, KTM has placed great importance on manufacturing its e-bikes in Europe. Even today, the majority of e-bikes for customers roll out of the assembly halls in Mattighofen.
KTM operates a relatively large in-house development department at its headquarters in Mattighofen. It is well equipped and works innovatively. The latest example of this is a mount for the Bosch Smart System battery, which was designed and produced in-house. Thanks to this, KTM was able to keep the frames of its e-bikes unchanged when switching to the latest generation of Bosch drive systems.
KTM pursues high quality standards when selecting components. Its exclusive partners include Bosch eBike Systems, for example. This gives the manufacturer access to preliminary versions of motors, batteries and components, allowing it to test the components and incorporate its findings into the co-development process.
KTM e-bikes are available in almost every conceivable variation. Some of the product ranges are so extensive because they also include bikes for people with very specific requirements. For particularly tall and heavy people, for example, the company offers e-bikes with XL frame sizes..
What types of e-bikes are available in the KTM range?
- Full-suspension e-mountain bikes
- E-mountain bikes with rigid rear suspension
- Off-road / hybrid bikes
- On-road / trekking bikes
- City E-Bikes
- Youngsters / Kids - Children's E-Bikes
KTM e-mountain bikes
A damped rear suspension and a suspension fork – these are the hallmarks of an E-MTB Fully. KTM offers four model series covering the popular categories of Enduro, All Mountain, Marathon and Tour. Depending on the intended use, the suspension travel varies – from 180 millimetres for enduro e-bikes down to 125 millimetres for the entry-level KTM Macina Chacana e-bike.
Model series:
- KTM Macina Prowler
- KTM Macina Kapoho
- KTM Macina Chacana
- KTM Macina Lycan
Available frame shape: Diamond
Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: No
E-mountain bikes from KTM with rigid rear suspension
A hardtail is slightly lighter than a full-suspension bike. Its rear triangle has no suspension or damping. This means slightly less riding comfort off-road, but at the same time leads to more efficient power transmission. From very sporty bikes designed for marathon and cross-country riding to the low step-through KTM Macina Aera, there is a wide range to choose from.
Model series:
- KTM Macina Team
- KTM Macina Aera
- KTM Macina Race
- KTM Macina Ride
Available frame shapes: Diamond, low step-through
Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: Yes
KTM Off-Road / Hybrid Bike
No lights, no mudguards, no luggage rack. That's the short description for this type of e-bike. Instead, suspension forks are standard equipment. However, their suspension travel is significantly less than that of the models installed on mountain bikes. The focus here is more on riding comfort than on overcoming obstacles. In addition, the seating position is more upright and therefore more relaxed. From leisurely bike rides to commuting to work, this type of e-bike is the perfect choice. Model series:
- KTM Macina Cross
- KTM Macina Sprint
Available frame shapes: Diamond, trapezoid, low step-through
Models with lights, mudguards and luggage rack: Yes
On-road/trekking bikes from KTM
KTM e-bikes have received countless awards from trade journals and online magazines. Almost always, these awards were for a bike of this type. Here are just three recent examples to prove it:
- Elektrorad magazine (2021): KTM Macina Sport 630 PTS – Category: SUV
- Elektrorad magazine (2021): KTM Macina Sport P610 – Category: Trekking bike
- Stiftung Warentest (2020): KTM Macina Tour 510 – Category: Low step-through pedelecs
The unbroken interest in trekking e-bikes is obvious. Fully equipped e-bikes, which sometimes feature a suspension seat post in addition to suspension forks, are simply enormously versatile. Long tours, cycling holidays, the daily commute to work or shopping – on-road and trekking e-bikes are ideal for all of these activities.
Model series:
- KTM Macina Style
- KTM Macina Sport
- KTM Macina Tour
- KTM Macina Fun
Available frame shapes: Diamond, trapezoid, low step-through

KTM City E-Bikes
If you mainly want to cycle in urban environments, take a look at KTM's city e-bikes. The manufacturer is also offering its first e-cargo bike in this segment for the 2022 season: the KTM Macina Multi Urban. Designed for everyday use in the city, these e-bikes are often equipped with belts instead of chains, a large chain guard, hub gears and, in some cases, automatic shifting. The aim is to get you to your destination cleanly and reliably without any defects.
Model series:
- KTM Macina City
- KTM Macina Gran
- KTM Macina Central
- KTM Macina Multi
- KTM Macina Fold
Available frame shapes: Diamond, low step-through

Youngsters / Kids – Children's e-bikes from KTM<
At KTM, keeping an eye on all target groups also includes the younger generation. The KTM Macina Mini Me with 24-inch wheels is suitable for children from a height of approximately 140 centimetres. The version with 26-inch wheels is designed for older children. Thanks to specially tailored components such as narrower handlebars and shorter cranks, children can enjoy the family experience even on demanding tours. Model series:
