PW-X Drive Systems
The Japanese manufacturer has always aimed to make e-bike drives lighter and more powerful. In 2017, Yamaha’s PW-X motor became strong competition for other manufacturers such as Bosch and Shimano. The Yamaha PW-X drive is specially designed for e-MTBs and stands out with its high torque figures. Yamaha has now launched the third generation, introducing the completely new PW-X3 Pure Ride drive concept. This model is even lighter and smaller than its predecessors but delivers a strong torque of 85 Nm. The PW-X3 offers e-mountain bikers a completely new kind of off-road enjoyment and, thanks to its low weight, compact dimensions, and powerful drive, opens up endless new possibilities.
PW-ST Drive Systems
The Yamaha PW-ST is a drive system designed for everyone, impressing with its high functionality and ease of use. The PW-ST series drive is equipped with Yamaha’s Quad Sensor System, providing optimal assistance for all riding situations. Additionally, the system offers a wider support range, well-suited for pedalling at high cadence. PW-TE Drive Systems
With the PW-TE motor, Yamaha has created the perfect commuter for the city. The focus of the TE drive unit is on extremely high comfort and smoothly controlled riding in urban environments. With 60 Nm of torque, it effortlessly meets all the demands placed on an e-bike drive system. Whether tackling steep climbs, riding with fully loaded panniers, or battling strong headwinds, the PW-TE automatically detects current riding conditions thanks to its Quad Sensor Technology and delivers appropriately adjusted assistance and smooth acceleration. PW-CE Drive Systems
The Yamaha PW-CE is a drive system designed for everyday city rides. With 50 Nm of torque, it provides comfortable assistance on the way to work or during a shopping trip in the city centre.Thanks to the walk-assist function, the PW-CE offers a balanced level of support when pushing the e-bike, making it easier to push uphill or when carrying a load, such as fully loaded panniers after shopping. Additionally, the Automatic Support Mode delivers a relaxed riding experience, as this assistance level adapts to the constantly changing conditions within urban environments. With the Yamaha PW-CE, you get a drive system that offers smooth support and agile handling for daily city rides.

Yamaha E-Bike Batteries
Powerful e-bike drives require strong batteries. Yamaha e-bike batteries offer long-lasting power and high range. As with the motors, there are different types of batteries available. These include the first introduced rear rack battery, which, as the name suggests, is mounted on the rear rack. The frame battery, often mounted on the down tube and the in-tube batteries integrated into the down tube. There are also additional batteries, such as the External Crossover, which can be used to further increase the available range. Yamaha batteries come in various capacity sizes, allowing you to choose between 400, 500, and 600 watt-hours according to your needs.

Operating an e-bike requires a central interface between the rider and the drive system. Yamaha offers four different types of displays for its various drives. The very first of its kind was the Yamaha LCD display, used from 2014 to 2018. It provides a wide range of riding data and allows the selection of different support levels. The Yamaha Display A is a compact 1.7-inch onboard computer showing useful ride data such as trip and total distance, remaining range, and battery capacity. The support levels on this display, introduced in 2019, are controlled via two thumb buttons. The Yamaha Display C, also introduced in 2019, features a 2.8-inch screen and an external control unit. This multifunction display provides comprehensive ride information and can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth. The Display C is centrally mounted on the cockpit and operated using the handlebar control unit. The latest display version from Yamaha is the minimalist Interface X. Compatible with all drives from 2022 onwards, the Interface X offers all the information an e-biker could wish for, despite its simple design. Its combination of compactness and cutting-edge technology makes the Yamaha Interface X an ideal everyday companion.
