Ladies E-MTB
Buying a women's e-MTB – what you need to look out for
A mountain bike especially for women? Why shouldn't I be able to ride a normal MTB? Quite simply because the female physique places different demands on a bicycle. Women are on average lighter and smaller. In order to meet female ergonomics, various parts are designed specifically for women. These adjustments ensure greater comfort, a better riding experience and thus more effective training.
These elements differ on women's MTBs:
- Frame: The frame of a mountain bike is often more compact and lighter to make handling easier, especially for petite women. To achieve this, the top tube is made shorter or thinner, or arranged slightly differently to reduce the distance between the handlebars and the saddle. The design is often made more feminine.
- Saddle: Women have a different pelvic anatomy to men. To avoid uncomfortable pressure on the pubic bone, the nose of the saddle is slightly lowered. The saddle is also slightly wider to provide optimal cushioning for the sit bones. Handlebars, grips and brakes: The handlebar stem is shorter to ensure the most upright sitting position possible. Because women have narrower shoulders, the handlebars are shorter. Shorter grips and optimally positioned brakes are designed for smaller hands.
Full suspension or hardtail?
The distinction between full suspension (front and rear suspension) and hardtail (front suspension) also applies to women's MTBs. Hardtails are significantly lighter, which can be an advantage, especially for smaller women. If you are planning relaxed day trips without complicated uphill and downhill passages, a hardtail should serve you well. They are easy to maintain, but cannot be ridden as fast as full-suspension bikes. E-full-suspension bikes, on the other hand, meet the highest standards of comfort thanks to their suspension and sophisticated frame construction. The suspension also ensures that your rear wheel stays on the ground in rough terrain. This increases safety, especially when riding fast.
Which women's models do we offer in our shop?
- KTM Glory: All women's bikes from the 2020 model year onwards bear the suffix "Glory". The series was developed in collaboration with professional female athletes – for the first time, bikes are now also available in frame size XS.
- Trek Women's: Trek's women's models can be recognised by the suffix "Women's". The manufacturer was one of the first to offer a wide range of women's mountain bikes.
- Giant Liv: Giant's sister brand Liv has long established itself as a professional women's brand. It is the only bicycle brand that exclusively produces women's bicycles.
- Haibike Life: Haibike has been offering special women's e-bikes for some time, but the name has changed slightly for the 2019 model year. You can now recognise the women's series by the addition of "Life". The Sduro HardLife became the Sduro Hardseven Life; the Sduro FullLife became the Sduro FullSven Life.
