E-bike batteries from Yamaha – the original
As one of the market leaders in the field of drives for bicycles with electric assistance, Yamaha offers a correspondingly wide range of high-quality batteries. Renowned bicycle manufacturers such as Haibike, Giant, Liv, Ghost, BH Bikes, Winora, Batavus, R Raymon, GasGas and Lapierre rely on Japanese technology. The largest share of this is certainly accounted for by Haibike's SDURO and XDURO model series and Giant bikes.
Given this number of e-bikes, here's an important note up front: we only supply original Yamaha batteries for your e-bike! These products have successfully passed Yamaha's final quality control. In addition, we only order each battery type in small quantities. This means that every battery comes from the current production run and truly deserves to be called "new".
Find your battery type
The list of companies that work with Yamaha clearly shows the wide variety of e-bike types that are equipped with this system. Your battery may, for example, be attached to the luggage rack. Most manufacturers choose the position directly below the horizontal support surface of the luggage rack. This does not block the luggage rack and provides maximum protection for the battery.
At least as often, the battery is attached to the frame. This is referred to as a frame battery, seat tube battery or down tube battery. Although the names differ, the advantage is always the same: you can easily remove the battery and take it with you to charge it at home, for example.
In recent years, batteries that are completely integrated into the down tube have become extremely popular. An intube battery is enclosed by the frame tube and thus effectively protected from the weather and mechanical influences.
Yamaha batteries with high capacity and range
Certain sizes have long been established as standards for battery capacity. You usually have the choice between a battery with 400, 500 or 600 watt hours. Yamaha also offers these categories. In the case of Intube batteries, the manufacturer even goes one step further. The most powerful unit has a total capacity of 630 watt hours.
The question of range is inextricably linked to capacity. Understandably, you want to know how long the motor will support you. However, this depends on countless factors in each individual case:
- Nature of the ground
- Proportion of inclines and declines on the route
- Climatic conditions such as ambient temperature, wind, etc.
- State of charge of the battery
- Tyres
- Driving style
This list could easily be continued. As a guideline, a battery with 400 watt hours can take you up to 80 kilometres.
The right battery for every motor
A major advantage of Yamaha is the supplier's modular design. This means you can combine different motors with different batteries. We offer products that are compatible with the following motors:
Compatible original chargers
It is worth taking a closer look when choosing the right charger. There is less freedom here. This device is suitable for all batteries from 2019 or later: Yamaha charger for Intube battery – 36 volts. Thanks to its charging current of 4.0 Ah, you can fully recharge a 400Wh battery in around 3.5 hours. A 500Wh battery takes around four hours. For batteries with 600Wh and above, you should allow around five hours.
If your battery was manufactured before 2019, you will need this charger: Yamaha charger for e-bike batteries – 36 volts. It is suitable for batteries up to and including the 2014/2015 model year.
Care tips for Yamaha e-bike batteries
To ensure that you get the most out of your battery, Yamaha has a few tips for you.
Longer storage, e.g. over the winter
- Reduce the remaining capacity to one or two indicator lights
- Choose a cool (15–25 °C), dry place for storage
- Check the remaining capacity once a month
- Charge the battery for 10 minutes if the last indicator light is flashing
Battery performance is gradually declining – what should you do?
- Charge the battery to 100 per cent
- Store the battery in a warm environment before use
- Replace the battery if it shows significant external wear and tear
