Description
The SHIMANO maintenance set for 5-, 7- and 8-speed gear hubs consists of 1,000 ml oil in a canister and a dip bath. The continuous oil change guarantees a long service life.
Note
For a continuous and proper function it is recommended to maintain or lubricate the gear hub once a year from the first use of the bicycle (alternatively every 2,000 km in case of frequent use). If the bicycle is used in unfavourable conditions, more frequent maintenance is required. In addition, we recommend that you use the grease or lubrication kit developed by SHIMANO for gear hubs for maintenance work. If you do not use SHIMANO's grease or lubrication kit, you can experience shifting malfunctions.
- Fill the container (dip tank) with service oil to a height of 95 mm (mark).
- Immerse the internal unit in the oil with the left side (counter-drive side) facing downwards so that the oil reaches the gear unit. Leave the internal unit immersed for approx. 90 seconds.
- Remove the internal unit from the oil.
- Let excess oil drip off for approx. 60 seconds.
- Replace the hub.
