The SHIMANO polymer-coated shift cable further reduces friction and noticeably ensures smooth shifting.
Only visible under a microscope, the tubes of the polymer coating wrapped around the inner cable reduce friction, which reduces the effort required when shifting gears. In addition, lubrication is maintained for longer, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Polymer Coated Cable
The secret is a polymer coating that, under a microscope, looks like tubing wrapped around the cable. This provides less surface area to rub against the inner housing lining. Grease is also retained for longer. The main benefits are a much lower effort when shifting gears and the feeling of faster gear changes.
