Rohloff pinion adapter Splined Carrier

Each Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14 gear hub can be retrofitted to the pinion system with the Splined Carrier. There is no restriction on the sprocket sizes. All Rohloff plug-in sprocket can be mounted - always mount a new chain!

The Splined Carrier is compatible with all Rohloff pinion plugs with 13 to 21 teeth. With the deconvolution table (page 2) you will find the right sprocket whereby permissible transmission factors are to be considered. In practice, a transmission factor chainring (sprocket) of 2.5 - 2.8 has proven itself in trekking / everyday use.

Assembly instructions

The sprocket itself is simply placed on the carrier and secured by the circlip. The assembly of the Splined Carrier incl. sprocket is then done by a sprocket puller.

With the Splined Carrier the chain lines shift:

• frame 135/142mm with plug-in sprocket: 13-21 teeth = 57mm chainline
• frame 148mm with pinion: 13-21 teeth = 54mm chainline
• frame 170/177/190/197mm with pinion: 13-21 teeth = 75mm chainline

Attention!
Due to the changed chainline, the chain tensioner with longer frame bolt and spacers (8257) must be used.

With large sprockets, collisions of the chain or sprocket with the frame stay or dropout can occur under certain circumstances. Rohloff offers a template for collision testing.

For special cases where an adjustment of the chainline is not possible (e.g. special chain case, chain running in the rear triangle, collision with chain stay due to exceptionally narrow installation space) Rohloff provides the Splined Carrier S.

The Rohloff Splined Carrier L is specially designed for combination with Gates Carbon Drive-Rohloff plug-in pulleys.

The use of a closed chain guard must be individually checked for compatibility.
