The SHIMANO BL-MT402-3/BR-MT420 is a reliable and robust 4-piston disc brake at an affordable price. Without group binding, it has features that guarantee a high level of braking performance. There are no limits to the use of this brake, from Cross Country to Enduro to Gravity and heavy eBikes. It also cuts a fine figure on trekking bikes.

The brake shines with 20% more braking power and at the same time 150% higher wear resistance compared to the 2-piston version BR-MT400. The brake lever with its slim design is equipped with a 3 finger brake lever, which is adapted to smaller hands. The lever is attached to the handlebar with a clamp.

FOUR PISTON
The disc brake system with double-diameter caliper design and counter-rotating pistons has different size pistons at the front and rear. The system incorporates a power transmission system in which the brake disc is pushed by the smaller piston at the entrance to the brake disc mount and also by the stronger, larger piston at the rear. This prevents the brake disc from vibrating and significantly reduces noise.
The four-piston caliper increases the contact area with the brake disc while its Size remains compact. The position of the pads is precisely tuned to stabilise the pressure. Moreover, in combination with the SERVOWAVE brake lever, an incredible 50% more braking power is achieved than with the previous model. The advanced disc braking system can be adapted to the braking habits of the driver and produces a consistent, excellently dosed braking force.

ONE WAY BLEEDING
ONE WAY BLEEDING was developed to quickly and easily prevent air from entering the hydraulic system. We have optimised the brake fluid line path throughout the system to prevent air bubbles from becoming trapped in the system. The one-way flow of the mineral oil, together with the funnel for filling, allows for clean, trouble-free bleeding.
