For even greater visibility – e-bike headlights with high beam
E-bike lights with high beam function are becoming increasingly popular. These headlights allow you to set an extra bright light level using a separate button on the handlebars. A high beam lamp is a real added value, especially for frequent e-bike riders on country roads or lonely dirt tracks. This allows you to spot obstacles or uneven surfaces early on, even at night. Important: make sure that these headlights are approved by the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). Only then are you allowed to use front lights with high beam on your e-bike.
The brightest e-bike headlights with StVZO approval at Elektrofahrrad24
All leading e-bike lamp manufacturers offer high-performance headlights with high beam. Among the brightest lights on the market are the Supernova M99 Pro 2 and the Lupine SL X. No less powerful are the e-bike headlights with high beam AEW-230 from Litemove and the IQ-XL from Busch & Müller. We also offer a range of other high beam lights in various price categories.
Modern e-bike headlights with practical functions
A high beam mode is just one of the many useful functions of modern e-bike front lights. Many lights have even more light levels for a wide variety of situations. For example, e-bike headlights with daytime running lights are common, providing greater visibility in bright conditions. Coupled with an intelligent light sensor, some front lights automatically switch between daytime running lights and low beam. Another clever feature is that headlights with MonkeyLink mounting can be attached and removed in a single step. This is made possible by a clever magnetic mount. With the Busch & Müller Leval also allows you to retrofit a cornering light to your e-bike. Find the e-bike front light that's right for you.
What should I look for when buying an e-bike headlight?
Suitable e-bike light connection & power
As a rule, it is possible to connect a front light to any e-bike motor and supply it with power via the battery. You just need to find out beforehand which connection you need. Each motor manufacturer usually uses its own plug. When choosing the right e-bike headlight, also pay attention to the maximum power. Particularly powerful lamps with high beam sometimes require more power than the e-bike motor can provide.
Difference between lumens and lux
There are two common measurements used to compare the light output of different e-bike headlights: lumens and lux. The lumen measurement indicates how much light is emitted by the lamp. The lux value indicates how much light actually reaches a surface. The higher the values, the more light is emitted or reaches the ground. This means that the number of lumens indicates how well you can be seen by other road users, whereas lux indicates how well you can see the road ahead. However, the lumen and lux values alone do not determine the quality of a headlight. Factors such as the beam angle and illumination also play a decisive role and must be taken into account.
Mounting the headlight on an e-bike
There are different ways to attach a front headlight to an e-bike. Common options include mounts for the fork crown and handlebars. The various e-bike lamp manufacturers also generally use special lamp holders exclusively for their own front lights. However, the corresponding mount is usually included when purchasing a headlight.
StVZO approval for e-bike headlights
All vehicles participating in road traffic in Germany must comply with the provisions of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). This also applies to e-bikes and the headlights installed on them. Therefore, when purchasing a new front light, make sure that it has the appropriate approval. The e-bike headlights at Elektrofahrrad24 are generally all StVZO approved. If not, this will be explicitly stated in the product description.
